This movie is ok. It doesn’t leave a wonderful feeling and I don’t think I felt any ups and downs with the characters. Quite a flat movie. The acting throughout the film was only so-so.
It’s set in New York and has a very New York feel to it… the dialogue sounds a lot like other films that have been filmed in New York… such as Sidewalks in New York or even The Brothers McMullen. There are many films that have the New York feel. I think what sets these films apart is their dialogue, there is a certain style in how they talk and how it’s communicated.
Basically, it’s a film about a recently divorced 37 year old woman who falls in love with a 23 year old guy and vice versa. It doesn’t have that much comedy in it and the supporting actors, I’m referring to David’s friend here, is rather annoying. I must say the cat was very cute though. I suppose the therapist, played by Meryl Streep was alright but I kept thinking she was Meryl Streep so I don’t know.
We read about female celebrities hooking up with younger men and I suppose this film looks into that kind of relationship. I think this film tries to address serious issues but it doesn’t know how. It tried to address the religion factor and also the age difference but it didn’t make us think or come to any conclusion.
Anyway, it was ok. I think for light watching it’s nice. Too bad the rating was changed from R- rated to PG-13. Bad move, in my opinion. Hahaha…. I think at least then we would have had more to remember of the film.
Uma Thurman has weird features in my opinion. Her body is amazing though. Bryan Greenberg on the other hand reminds me of Jake Gyllenhaal for some reason. He wasn’t too bad. Looked quite good too.
I like Uma’s name in the movie though. Rafi… aka Raphaelle… nice!
I heard about this movie through the radio since it just opened here in Malaysia. The movie was pleasant but I won’t say anything further.
