TB among other things…

I hate deciding on titles for my blog entries. I sit at the keyboard for 10 minutes thinking of an appropriate title and by that time, I wish not to write anymore.

Yesterday was Wednesday and I didn’t go for cell. Naughty of me, isn’t it?

I went to work in the morning and had my 1st meeting yesterday. It was good. I had curry laksa too since it was Curry Laksa Day at the cafe. Not bad. I’m not a big fan of curry laksa but it was good curry laksa.

My friend and I were in our respective offices yesterday talking about maybe meeting up this weekend. Instead we decided to watch a movie last night. I checked out the cinemas but the movies that she wanted to watch were fully booked. Currently, the cinemas are showing the Oscar movies for only RM5.

She wanted to watch The Constant Gardener and Syriana. She has the worst description and summaries for both movies. She said one was about a “diplomat in Kenya” and the other about “oil”. That’s all. So vague. A real summary. It didn’t sound attractive to me. I did a check on IMDB and when I found out that The Constant Gardener had romance in it I was telling her she should have mentioned it to attract mainstream audiences like myself. *wince* I wish I wasn’t so mainstream.

Since the cinemas were out, we found out that one of the guy friends we had invited, or I had anyway, had the DVD and he said we should watch it on DVD instead.

Then it became a battle on where to watch it and whose house to watch it. I think it took my girl friend and I 3 hours to decide what to do in the end, both us wishing not to displease each other. It’s called indecisive.

We decided her house in the end since she’s got a nice plasma screen. I brought some chocolates and beef jerky (YUM! but I brought it back in the end ‘cos she doesn’t eat it she says).

The movie was alright. Not as thrilling and rather bland. It said it was a thriller but my heart didn’t beat like crazy throughout the film and neither did I scream at the characters.

The topic of the film was on something really interesting. Tuberculosis. How close to home. I wanted to blog last night but instead, I came home to research on tuberculosis and on multi-drug resistance.

I didn’t know the Constant Gardener would be on tuberculosis so imagine my surprise when I found out.

By the way, World TB Day is on March 24, 2006. It’s coming up. I’ll stick up some links soon.

So besides my girl friend and I, there were two other guys who watched it with us. She invited one and I, the other. A weird combination since I don’t believe I’ve watched a movie with either guy before. Hahah. Always a first, they say.

Guess who I invited? *raises eyebrows* I messaged him online not expecting him to reply or say he wanted to watch it but what a pleasant surprise. Yes, Mr. Wrist Touch ! haha…

I suppose the good news was that I didn’t get butterflies in my stomach and I didn’t feel “wow-ed” by the experience. In fact, I was pretty normal. I’m getting better at this. Tee hee. I was happy of course.

Thinking about it, this is my 1st movie that I’ve watched out of my house in months. I had watched Pride and Prejudice at home during my break, I Capture the Castle, Corpse Bride, Prime, etc etc.

I watched American Idol last night. Did you? I wasn’t able to catch the show in its entirety… snippets before dinner, snippets after dinner and snippets after the film. I was able to catch the pretty girl’s performance finally. She’s got the prettiest face in the competition I think and she can sing! Yup yup. I think Lisa’s amazing as well. I want these two and the “kampung” girl, Kelly!! hahah… these three.

During the Constant Gardener I found out that my girl friend, whom I had mentioned in my blogs previously as sharing the same sentiments as me in regards to relationship, also likes the same body parts as me.

She likes backs too!!! Grr… hahah.. but backs are so sexy. Seriously, give me a back any day. Rachel Weisz’s back is really nice. But I’ve seen much sexier backs. I feel faint just thinking about backs.

I don’t know how Rachel was pregnant in that movie. They showed her in the nude and her stomach looked quite real some times. Was she really pregnant? Is she pregnant now? I’m confused.

The movie was a bit odd ‘cos she didn’t seem sad at all that her baby had died. Maybe the way to distract herself was to focus on the conspiracy but it felt so unreal ’cos she didn’t mourn at all. I guess there was no screen time for that. I guessed the reason why she won Best Supporting Actress or nominated in that category was because she died in the first 5 minutes.

That’s it. That was my night last night. Hahaha.
