Look-alikes, splurging sprees and cell

Kat looks great - so Mariah-esque…:)

In my opinion, I think the American Idol stylist looked to Mariah for Kat’s winning look tonight…

I loved Kat’s yellow dress… VERY very beautiful. Who knew someone could carry off that colour? Not many can carry off a primary colour more perfectly.

American Idol Tonight

Kat - I thought she did alright. If the judges said she was comparing herself to Whitney, then you gotta admit, she tried to copy Mariah’s look too… I thought her performance was pretty good.

Elliot- Mr. Yamin, I want you to be mine… haha… He’s so sweet and sincere looking… and his voice… oh my… I love him. He wasn’t all too bad…

Kellie - Unchained Melody… I love the song but you were rather boring with it… and your straight face didn’t help it much…flat. The most surprising this was how you were not in the bottom 3 last week. Hopefully you are this week and people won’t be voting out of sympathy.

Paris - You, woman… sang “The Way we Were…” I could die. Now. This season’s choice of songs are tops! Yes, this was the song that Mariah sang impromptu on an interview show once… after that I was frantically looking for that song… you scored in my books. Didn’t like your coat though… what was up with it.

Taylor - You’re pretty good…but I don’t know I can’t seem to connect.. but you’re good

Chris - Sigh… another flat singer… hardly any emotion. It didn’t deserve the praise tonight… not in my books anyway…

My Top performers of the night? The yummy Kat in yellow, the heavenly Mr. Yamin, Paris you go girl! and …Taylor…

On a more critical note, tonight I thought was a bit rushed with all the ad breaks. The judges were also a bit “cheong hey” and the overall singing tonight was a bit… dull.

I thought it would be a good night to shine and really draw us in but somehow, that didn’t happen. The camera angles today weren’t close-ups which they should have… to bring us to that “we’re crossing the private space barrier” level…

Andrea Bocelli rocks and so does David Foster… David Foster is a really great ballad producer… after all, he did work with Mariah on a few of my favourite Mariah songs ever… plus, he’s worked with other artistes too… hehe… eep… can’t wait for Bocelli!! (It’s like I’m craving for chocolate or something)

Enough of Idol.

What did I do today? Well, last night I attempted to retrieve data from my hard disk with some success. However, I had nowhere to save it to. So, at lunch I went off to Midvalley today to buy myself a snazzy new 250gb hard disk

I asked a colleague of mine whether he wanted to come but he’s a bit strange and after our long conversation, he said no… which was a good thing…’cos he wanted to go music browsing and who knows how long he would have taken right?

I bought myself some 256MB DDR RAM too.. I know … what unnecessary splurges! Well the hard disk is quite the necessity. Plus, workin the cost per gb, 250gb was the best deal around.

I came home and attempted to format it.. I did. Ok, here was where it was absolute madness.

I partitioned it into 4 segments BUT I partitioned it simultaneously. Since I imagine it as linear (you know how they talk about defragmenting the drive so that the data flows easier) this would mean that if I partitioned the 4 drives at once, the drive itself would be partitioned fragmentally. If that makes sense… So what I did was I deleted all the partitions and I’m going to re-do the partitioning.

Yes, I’m anal. I was speaking to that friend of mine (the one who didn’t want to go to Midvalley with me) and I was telling him I wanted to get myself something and he said I should ascetic

So now, I’ve decided that I am ascetic and anal. Anal’s my word. Wooh… I love it…

Once I finish the partitioning, I will be able to retrieve the data from my broken hard disk. YES!

Speaking of which, I was reading about which hard disk is more reliable. The hard disk that broke is a Maxtor I believe. But I bought it in 2003 and it has lasted me for about 3+ years. Not bad in my opinion… after being roughly handled, transferred around, stuck in a stuffy external hard disk case…  I think it has been relatively trusty. The case has no vents! So it was baking itself to death. Plus running 24/7 for a couple of months in that environment… it was doomed.

Of course my current 40gb primary hard disk is an amazing piece of hardware.. it has lasted 24/7 for the last year or two… that’s really amazing and the years before that too… Oh well, I am pleased with my Maxtor though..

I did buy another Maxtor today. I didn’t even know till I brought it back and I was looking at it …then I screamed, “ACK! It’s a Maxtor” After reading numerous forums and websites on which hard disk is better… it’s a hard thing to decide… Maxtor can’t be that bad now… they’ve been bought over by Seagate… there were a lot of bad reviews for it though. It makes me wary… “should I save my data in that drive then?” I can’t be choosy… data is more important right now.

Wooh, I think tomorrow when I look back on this post, I’ll think why did I rant on for so long about hard disks. The truth is, I spent most of today reading up on this topic…

YEAY I HAVE A 250GB HARD DISK NOW!

Tonight was a great night. Cell came over for dinner. Tonight was meant to be a cell outing so instead of going out and partying they came over to my house to pray for my dad. Aren’t they the best cell ever?

My parents threw them a dinner and we had homemade nasi lemak. The rice was green! Too much pandan I think.. HAHA….It was a great dinner though… the curry chicken was superb and there was red bean tong sui for dessert.

It was a really great night. They really proved themselves tonight. I mean, it was one of those things that are unexpected and uncalled for, something they didn’t need to do but they did it anyway.

God really has blessed me with a great cell… even though I may seem ungrateful some times but tonight, they outdid themselves. I just thank them for coming. I have to say a big shout out to my cell leader for her absolute great nature… for pushing for this… seriously…I was shocked at first, I thought it would be awkward that the cell was coming especially as a “cell outing” to pray for my dad… but it is an act that is hard to follow. I believe this is a sign that we are living the church’s vision for this year, “moving forward with excellence”… this is proof of it.

I’m not all mushed up and in tears but I am impressed… mightily impressed and very grateful for their love and concern. What more can I say to that? Words can’t express it and I am glad we had the dinner to off-set the awkwardness a bit. Ha ha.

What else? Well, tomorrow is a long day again. I have to fix my hard disk partitions, work on adding the RAM to my computer (hopefully it works. I have a feeling this may be another nightmare - I bought RAM that is faster than the one I have in my computer at the moment but I think the new RAM is backwards compatible or something…).

I have to work on putting the data onto my new hard disk and also, try and get my laptop to play on my television. This is going to be the most headache.

I am glad I have gadget-y things to keep my mind occupied. It’s fun. All this work with the screwdriver is great.

By the way, I’ve updated my wish list. I’ve been listening to the songs from A Walk to Remember and Mandy Moore rocks man… she seriously does. She did Saved! the movie, then she did A Walk to Remember… I think she’s better than Britney any day… Mandy’s voice is very pure as well.

I love “Someday we’ll Know” from the A walk to Remember OST.

Ninety Miles outside Chicago
Can’t stop driving
I don’t know why
So many questions
Need an answer
Two years later
You’re still on my mind
Whatever happen to Amelia Earheart who holds the stars up in the sky?
Is true love just once in a lifetime?
Did the captain of the Titanic cry?
Someday we’ll know
If love can move a mountain…
Someday we’ll know
Why the sky is blue…
Someday we’ll know
Why I wasn’t meant for you…

Does anybody know the way to Atlantis?
Or what the wind says when she cries?
I’m speeding by the place that I met you
For 97th time…tonight

Someday we’ll know
Why Samson loved Delilah…
One day I’ll go
Dancing on the moon…
Someday you’ll know
That I was the one for you…

I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow,
And watched the stars crash in the sea,
If I could ask God just one question…
Why aren’t you here with me?…tonight
