So I was typing away last night after the Idol finale not wanting to sleep. I kind of wanted to revel in the American Idol/ Katharine McPhee moment for a little longer.
And you know what? My post didn’t get posted! So, it’s the morning and I’m not that tired. I slept at 4am and although not as spritely, I wouldn’t say I’m THAT tired.
Some articles post-American Idol (of course, Katharine McPhee related) :-
*edit: USA Today Article - Katharine talks about her acting, her musical background, her dieting techniques or lack of, her near breakdowns …she makes it all seem so effortless and fun but it shows she’s a true star. I liked this interview - quite personal and revealing.
I particularly want to draw you to the EW article.
Kat didn’t know who Meat Loaf Aday was before the finale… till she had to perform with him. That’s his real name by the way I found out.
The one part I wanted to draw you to was that on the final performance night, Katharine did start losing her voice and she wasn’t feeling up to mark. I was right. She had to get a shot of cortisone.
Now, the funny thing, yesterday during the day I read that she needed a jab to get her up and running for the performance night.
I didn’t think her performance night was all that but during the grand finale, she shone like she has never shone before. She was glowing, her voice was superb, she looked gorgeous… I mean, she was a stunner on finale night and she outshone all the other people.
My guess is that the cortisone worked its wonders on the finale night and maybe not on performance night. Maybe she should have gotten jabbed earlier.
I was telling my mom last night that my dad’s fatigue could be because of the prednisolone that he has stopped taking this week. Although he is taking a negligible amount, prednisolone makes him feel really good. Even if it’s just a little bit. The wonders of prednisolone. It’s an anti-inflammatory drug… it’s also a pretty well-known steroid.
Anyway, so I told my mom that Kat on the performance night was looking quite sickly and her voice wasn’t all that good and she needed a shot of cortisone and my mom was like, “She took prednisolone too?”
Kat basically boosted her cortisone hormones in her body (which is what prednisolone does too by the way) … I think the shot only showed on the finale night. HAHAH… that’s probably why she was so happy, jumping about, glowing… etc etc… kidding. I’m sure she was just happy and it was her moment to celebrate. But I’m pretty sure the cortisone shot had a bit to do with it.
I was listening to her performance night songs such as Somewhere Over the Rainbow and if you remember I did say she was softer and it wasn’t a bad performance. It was different from the 1st…maybe even more alluring…
“My Destiny”, her new single, was sung a half key lower to adjust to her loss of voice which probably explained why the song didn’t sound as grand. Like I said before, I think it makes good radio music so I am waiting for the studio version of that song.
So, some interesting 6 degrees with Katharine. HAHAH. I can’t believe of all things, it had to do with medicine too!

American Idol Press Room

Gosh, she’s quite flexible.

I don’t particularly like flowers usually but this flower arrangement is great, isn’t it? Not the usual boring bouquets. Or the Asian-styled uninspired bouquets anyway… very nice!

Kat’s so pretty… So far, I’ve just ignored Taylor. Will have to see how he evolves in the coming weeks.

She looks a bit greasy in the last photo…
Ok, the reason why I posted up so many pictures of her in the press room is because I love her top! It’s cool!
I think she wore this for her final Somewhere Over the Rainbow performance. It’s really cool and she looks good in it and it’s not like “kwa cheong” or anything… it’s classy, glamorous and hip… awesome!
I have to say I think the American Idol stylists - hair, makeup and fashion really did a good job with Kat. It seemed like all their focus was on her ‘cos Taylor just looked so uncle-y in his grey suits and blue shirts. *shudders*

I liked Carrie, after her solo performance last night, how she gave stately nods to acknowledge the claps. She’s weird… she didn’t scream, “thank you” or clap with the audience, she just sat there and nodded. I wonder if that’s what the producers requested or if her team told her not to overreact or something. She’s so calm… it’s unnerving.

Although it’s a bit fuzzy, I really really like the white ensemble Kat’s wearing. One of my favourites …
I like the fact that she wore a lot of Stuart Weitzman shoes throughout the competition too. I liked her Dorothy shoes from her Top 3 Somewhere Over the Rainbow performance. (yes, Wizard of Oz-like) I thought her shoes were nothing short of stunning… I noticed them so that speaks something doesn’t it? Usually I’m like, “Shoes? What shoes?”

I like Kat when she’s slightly goofy and enjoying herself. She’s with Lisa in these photos– hurrah… on closer inspection, did Paris shave or not??

Didn’t post a pic of Kat in her red dress yesterday so here it is…
Taylor reminds me of a Malaysian guy wearing just a coat and a shirt. Like he’s going to work or something… or to a dinner function… like a wedding.
I like how Kat looks like a showbusiness type of person. She reminds me of the 50s and 60s stars … her actions and mannerisms, so broadway, comical … reminds me of a bygone era. Like Singing in the Rain… she did say that Gene Kelly is one of her American Idol so maybe that’s why she’s how she is.
She mentioned she’d like to do a musical/movie like Moulin Rouge. I think she would have been good in that role as a courtesan… maybe if Baz decides to do a broadway version they can ask her to be in it. Then I’d really need to go watch. WAH! I’m already missing out on the American Idol tour.
Ohhh… then some interviewer mentioned too bad Phantom of the Opera has been done already…yeah… that would have been awesome too…
Both are good movies in my opinion.. I loved them and I think yeah, Kat would do well in such roles… awesome… I’m anticipating her future already!

I’m not sure if I stuck up a full length photo of her dress yesterday so here it is.
Someone mentioned that she was superb but Meatloaf Aday was a bit off and that it looked like a sleazy old man singing to a young, beautiful girl. After that, I couldn’t get it out of my mind.. it’s true.. Meatloaf Aday does look sleazy and dirty.

Kat looking gorgeous on the red carpet.
Now, that I know she pumped herself up with cortisones before the show, do you think she looks a little puffy and bloated? It just dawned on me that a lot of stars must pump themselves up with cortisones/steroids to feel good enough for a show or an event. Interesting… at least she’s honest enough to admit it. The point is not to live on the drugs. Duh.
Some good American Idol links :-
www.americanidol.com - Official Site that actually does have a lot of content…
I came across a picture of Kat pre-American Idol glam from the Official Site …

So different, right? Gosh… what a transformation. The wonders of hair extensions, make up, good stylists.
