New York and Six Degrees!!

My day was pretty ok… until now. I’m fuming under the collar right now.. one of those rage moments and I’m trying to diffuse the moment by listening to music. I’m not sure if it’s really working. GRRRR…. you know who got me mad lah… the usual suspect.

The rumour mills are churning out that Mariah has insured her legs for $1,000,000,000.00

…and that her legs will be honoured this week… here’s the quote from news sources,

Singer Mariah Carey will be honoured at a New York City ceremony for having “Celebrity Legs of a Goddess.” During the ceremony a 16-foot (5 metre) tall likeness of the star’s assets will be unveiled. Carey will also announce the dates of her upcoming tour during the Radio City Music Hall press conference on 30 May (06).

Hmmmmmmmmmmm…….. how funny. Apparently, Mariah Carey’s also signed on to be a Gillette girl…1st Pepsi and now Gillette? Eww… sorry, I hope her management team and her know what they are doing. Sure she can earn a lot and get great exposure but you’re getting exposure in the wrong place, dahling! Although the Gillette’s Legs of a Goddess Campaign does sound rather amazing to be associated with, doesn’t it?

Other interesting news… I just read that Katharine McPhee has said on a morning talk show that she is recording Somewhere Over the Rainbow with David Foster for her “My Destiny/Think” single release coming out later this month… ooh! If it’s true I’m going to be bouncing around the place till it’s released. I should put in bulk orders… who wants Katharine McPhee’s CD?? In fact, it’s already on my wish list. *hint hint*

I told you David Foster would rock… I’m pretty sure I blogged about this… if not, I thought about it ‘cos I was watching the performance week when David Foster and Andrea Bocelli were overseeing the Idols and I could see that he liked her… ooh! What great news! David Foster has produced a lot of great stuff by the way… he’s worked with Michael Buble, Mariah Carey (on one of my faves - Can’t Take That Away), Celine Dion, Toni Braxton, The Corrs, Andrea Bocelli, he’s like… the man! I think I watched an episode of MTV Cribs where we were shown his awards cabinet full of Grammy Awards and American Music Awards..YEAH! He rocks~

I realised that Katharine McPhee sounds best when she is not under duress, ie… when she doesn’t need to perform in the competiton. I was watchin her in those Introduction videos where she talks about her songs or working with the various guest producers/artists and her voice always sounded so relaxed, powerful, vibrant and warm… she really does best in those situations and we can tell ‘cos on finale night, when there was no more pressure and she was having fun, her voice really was very good.
I’m more comfortable now.. I’ve been sitting on the hard floor for the last few hours and I just grabbed my bean bag so it’s like, “ahhh… ” A long explanation as to why I am seated on the floor. Just blame keyphone systems and wireless connections. Stay wired.

Ok, what else? This week is a great week and I can’t wait to get it started. First off, Mariah Carey is doing a slew of appearances on the Today Show and Regis & Kelly (May 30). 

Then Katharine McPhee will be having appearing on Regis & Kelly on May 31. On June 1, she’ll be on the Today Show. Six degrees or what? Isn’t this just the most awesome-st week yet?? Both my favourites are in New York. OH MY…. I can hardly contain myself…they both get to deal with Katie Couric for the last time on NBC!

I actually do want to talk about Taylor Hicks more… him and his Soul Patrol… all I have to say is that, yes, Soul Patrol does have quite a catchy ring to it. It does… I’m not denying it. Even I say Soul Patrol subconsciously…

Although it’s all rather juvenile, I wonder how he’s going to pull off his gimmicks and prancing on radio. To be honest, he became more spastic over the weeks if you watched, just ‘cos it was entertaining for people to see him dance and get the groove on and I read an article today that said that he’s prepared 10 years by performing lots whereas Katharine McPhee went to school lots and was unable to apply what she had learned ‘cos she was more “controlled”… very mechanical… hahah… dumb Elliott Yamin for saying that during his phone conference…and unable to connect with the audience…

A valid point but he pulled gimmicks to win votes…. writhing on the floor, pulling in Paula  Abdul for a dance… it’s one of those, let’s vote for him to see what he does next week… I guess us Katharine McPhee fans can say all we want till our faces turn blue and he’s still the winner.

We can also console ourselves and say that Katharine McPhee didn’t really want to win but how could she…? I think she gave her best shot even when her voice was not intact that night which was meant to be, oh so crucial… but I think she really outshone everybody on the finale results night… her voice was superb then..

I was reading about Bo Bice’s fans who said the same thing last year, that he didn’t want to win… and right now, his career is less than spectacular… he’s doing ok but then he did break a foot and did become a dad over the last year and he did take a while to come out with his album so I’m not sure.. plus, his screechy song, The Real Thing is not really a wonderful song, you know? But anyhoo…

*Edit: Plus, I think it’s great that she was nervous onstage when she was singing and when the judges were commenting during American Idol…’cos at least it humanises her some more… if you get my drift… a lot of people say she’s obnoxious but people who have airs around them don’t get nervous but she was nervous as… 

I was watching some of Katharine’s earlier auditions in Hollywood and before making it to Top 24, she was much heavier then. I remember quite clearly, she was performing and we commented that her voice was good but she had a big butt. I bet after that episode, I think it must’ve been the Top 24, she started going on a crash diet… or it could just have been the stress she was put under and the vigorous workouts and training that helped too.

But she looks superb now. I think it worked wonders. She’s less bloated and she looks fit and really sexy… I seriously think the week where she wore that yellow dress was her best look. She looked so amazing in that yellow dress. I mean, how many people can carry that off? It was great against her skin and hair colour and she radiated onstage. I don’t know any artiste who would be brave enough to wear such a primary colour onstage!

It’s really a superstar transformation and all right before our eyes too. It’s amazing and very promising for all the girls out there! It’s possible! Katharine McPhee did it and she still looks “comely” as a lot of articles put it… and very gorgeous… love her!

I know Katharine is displaying more of a glammed up doll/ sexy kitten kind of persona but I hope she doesn’t become some skinny artiste. I also hope that she won’t go overboard with the whole look and become some trashy American Idol, you know? We haven’t had one of those yet. So far, idols like Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Diana and Carrie have been pretty decent, girl next door… I hope Katharine will keep the classy look that she’s had in American Idol. I still have to give major props to the fashion, makeup and hair people at American Idol… they really do their jobs so well…But I like to think that she’s still that goofy, insecure girl… Read my posts below for better context.

I’m really tired. Last night I slept at 2:30am and woke up at 7:15. Was sleepy at work and then woke up at lunch. I found out a colleague of mine will be flying over to LA for a press junket. I was telling her too bad ‘cos everybody else is in NY. HAHAHA… She’ll get to meet Adam Sandler and Kate Beckinsale at this conference I think. HMmm…

My dad’ll be going up for his check-up tomorrow so if you could pray for him, that’ll be great.
