I don’t think so… Katharine McPhee never ceases to amaze me.
We know she’s quite the controversial chick. In the last few weeks, it has been proven that she is the most talked about American Idol finalist yet, with her various exclusives with Ok!, People and Teen People magazine.
She’s been slagged off for having an older boyfriend named Nick Cokas. You can see him here & here. Although, I think the haters here are just men…
She had to miss the 1st few weeks of the American Idol tour due to laryngitis and bronchitis but was rumoured to have wanted “out” of her contract… again, it was not the case. She has resumed touring with the other American Idol finalists.
She was hated on for having had bulimia before… the fact that she let people in on her esteem problems is and must be one of the toughest things anybody can do. I know how hard it is for someone who has low self-esteem to parade their problems out in the open.
She may not be suffering from bulimia anymore but I’m sure it comes haunting her every so often. The fact that she read all the speculations surrounding her… all the hatred, the mean-ness… don’t tell me that doesn’t affect anybody.
The fact that she had to address her moves several times goes to show how much she still doesn’t want all of this to affect her.
I guess she’s trying to show how real she is by opening herself to the public and how she has all these flaws .
In an exclusive interview with psychiatrist Keith Ablow, McPhee talked about the reading problems that had sabotaged her self-esteem and had made her turn to food for comfort. The food also helped distract her from emotional problems.
“Low self-esteem was huge for me,” McPhee said. “I was always the pretty little girl who was stupid. That was really difficult. I remember every morning driving to school — my dad would take us to school. And nobody knew, but I was terrified just to be at school. I could not wait until recess. I was terrified the teacher was going to call on me to read out loud.”
Katharine McPhee: “I was always the pretty little girl who was stupid”
I can imagine the haters picking on the fact that Katharine McPhee called herself, “the pretty little girl”… haha but she’s gorgeous and that’s probably why people hate her.
I wonder if she suffered or is a sufferer of dyslexia.. that might explain the typos in her messages… haha.. but it’ll be interesting to hear more from this interview.
I don’t think she’s stupid. She’s got more going for her than so many of us out there… she’s taking opportunities that are thrown at her and making it work for her.
Some times, you might be inhibited or there may be limitations placed upon you but you can overcome it and be successful… that’s her little mantra I’m guessing… and boy, has she been riddled with problems or what?!
I especially liked the ending of that article,
“Don’t make my situation your own standard, your blueprint,” she said. “You know, everybody’s different. … At least go get the help and do whatever works for you.”

Great article, and totally agree. Kat didn’t deserve all the slag thrown at her, and the rampant hateful rumors were being thrown out every which way, her haters going in full assault.
It’s too bad that people can’t accept someone that’s beautiful, and talented. LOL. I didn’t think I’d ever feel sympathy for someone who pretty much has everything. Well, peace of mind truly has great weight now a days…and I applaud her for not only NOT using her bulimia for a backstory on AI, but she revealed if AFTER the competition to help other bulimia victims.
