Post Merdeka Day

It’s the morning after Merdeka Day aka 1 September 2006. It’s 2:16am and I’m not that sleepy yet.

The last two days has been utter drama. I don’t even know where to start.

We were supposed to come back from Singapore on the 30th but we delayed our trip back by a day. We stayed for an extra day and it was great fun.

We woke up and I insisted that we buy my dad his birthday present. He had said what he wanted just before he left and so I spent my night searching online on where I could get his item and finally found it… so we drove all the way there and it’s not in town at all and we bought it… it wasted a lot of time and helped with the whole drama.

At lunch we gobbled our food down and we were still chewing when we left the lunch table. It was pretty hilarious how we ate so fast… just gobbled and sloshed down everything.

Basically, the drama here was that we got on the bus and we were making our way back to KL on the 30th but at the last minute asked our sister to pick us up from the immigration. We didn’t want to leave and they didn’t want us to leave. :)

Isn’t that drama enough? We were already on the bus but instead we got off the bus and waited for Che Che to pick us up at the immigration.

We bummed for an extra day in Singapore doing other things besides Orchard Road. This time we went to other IT malls and I made a hefty purchase. I was forced to buy a Creative Zen Vision:M. The argument was that I had stayed an extra day and had wanted to get it and to be honest, I didn’t really need it and I think I caused my sisters and brother in law a lot of headache and all of us literally felt ill because of my purchase. I mean, it’s not a necessity but a want and it was pretty ridiculous that we felt like barfing just because of this. Oh well. My fault.

I should have gotten a screen protector with it or the rubbery casing. I’ll try and look for one over the weekend.

Then we bummed around some more last night and ate at Corduroy and Finch. I had a tenderloin burger of some sort, Carmen had a tuna burger (a slab of tuna basically), Che Che had her beef goulash and CK had lamb shank… it was good food.

I got to watch “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton” when we were at home. It’s a good movie I thought. Kate Bosworth looked good in that. I can’t shrug off the whole “She’s too thin” stigma though. Argh. I still can’t believe she’s the girl from that surfing movie.

This morning we had a mission and that was to pick up some Royce from Taka. However, when we arrived at the Royce counter at Taka, they were out of the chocolates! It was pretty devastating considering it was one of the things that we really wanted to take home. Royce is the best! So we went for lunch at Crystal Jade. We ordered way too much food and my sister told us over the phone that we should get some chocolate for Mama. So I went back and lo and behold, the Royce stock had just arrived so I bought back 3 boxes. YEAY!!!

Yeah, Che Che had to work today so it wasn’t all that cool. CK was awesome though. We got our chocolates and made our way to the bus depot where we left for KL. It was an overall smooth journey… CK kept messaging us sporadically asking us whether we wanted to be picked up from the immigration again.

Made it home and cut a cake for my dad with the pastor and his brothers and sisters. Then they went out for dinner. It was nice to have the whole house to ourselves for awhile. We unwound and had dinner. I bought another surprise birthday cake for my dad, this time a mango flavoured one.

My parents came home and we got a visit from my mom’s sisters and cousin who’s from Canada. Her cousin is on her honeymoon so they just came to say hi. It was all so celebratory in our house. We never have so many guests usually.

Then my uncles, aunties and cousins came up and surprised my dad by singing Happy Birthday to him and that made his day I think. It really did… he was beaming and so happy. He cut his mango cake that nobody wanted to eat ‘cos they were so full from the dinner and then everybody just mingled for awhile. Both sides of our family… it was a bit weird. In the end, I had to send my mom’s cousins back to the hotel. My mom and I talked about the drama over the last few days. hee hee… the whole “let’s jump off the bus and stay in Singapore one more day” drama and my mom’s cousin visiting.

It was all in good fun. :) I was completely spazzing beforehand when I had to arrange my dad’s “surprise” gig. My mom’s family popped up from nowhere but I think it helped with everything because it helped make everything seem really like a “Surprise”. Hahah… i’m bad with arranging these things. NEVER ask me to coordinate events. I would faint. I think my indecisiveness will be the death of me. Luckily I had great cousins who persisted with the plans. My dad’s got good nieces and nephews.

“That’s all…” I love that phrase. :)

Ok, it’s almost 3am. I should sleep.
