You tell me. I’m not much of a business person.
But it’s great that Google bought over Youtube. I for one actually use Youtube (although I was a bit hesitant in the beginning) and it is quite a nifty tool to watch videos that are rare or that can’t be downloaded or that you don’t really want to waste bandwidth downloading… or even that you want to watch while you’re downloading the actual file. It helps the impatient people, I guess.
It is also a good platform for wannabe celebrities… I had the chance to experience both Youtube and Google Video, uploading and downloading content, and still, Youtube draws my attention a bit more. I actually feel drawn to it. I’m not a major fan of home videos, it’s the other things on these video sites that attract me.
Yahoo videos is so-so. We know they’ve got the latest videos, even exclusive interviews and performances but they get posted on Youtube just as quickly.
I think it was a matter of branding. After all, Yahoo video was always a feature of Yahoo but they never capitalised on it. Or pushed it or prioritised it.
It is interesting to read that Google will retain Youtube’s brand which means Google Video and Youtube will co-exist in the same market. How will they do this? I realised it doesn’t matter now since they are both owned by Google but still, wouldn’t Google still like to push their pioneer video sharing program?
It is smart of Google to buy Youtube now. It is the hottest property on the Internet and I have to say Youtube must be glad they were sold. Just because it must cost them a lot of money to maintain their servers and the bandwidth…
I must say if I got $1.65billion, I’d be in heaven right now.
Let me see, I’m happy for Google. With the internet, you have to buy things that are hot now and capitalise on it now rather than later. It’s buying out the competition and thus gaining market share which is always important. Youtube was gaining way too much ground, way too fast. Just like Newscorp’s purchase of Myspace. A smart move but some times, I wonder how they intend to fuse the businesses together. On paper, it sounds so feasible but like all businesses, profitability reigns and I’m thinking, how?
It’s not like I despise Yahoo either. I love Yahoo… even more so than sparse Google. Google gets straight to the point but Yahoo feels so good…
In terms of search engines, of course Google takes you straight to what you’re looking for compared to Yahoo… I wonder why this is so.
Anyway, to me, Youtube seems very cluttered these days. I mean features are always good but some times it can get a bit messy on the user interface… I want to hear your views.
It’s not like this article was all that informative… I’m just as clueless as the next person so please help!
Will this mean Yahoo videos will die? What can Google do with Youtube? Share your views…

I think this means maybe You Tube will be able to fight off the big bad RIAA. They have gotten way out of control. Maybe Google can take them on and win.
