So tonight I watched You, Me and Dupree and it wasn’t very good. Mediocre. Kate Hudson is gorgeous as usual. I find Matt Dillon’s eyebrows very unique and … straight. Owen Wilson’s broken nose kept bugging me throughout the movie. The slapstick wasn’t even funny. Well, I didn’t burst out laughing and I don’t remember much of the movie anymore. And I just watched it less than two hours ago.
Yesterday, I watched Elizabeth I and it’s such a great mini-series. I only watched one episode. Jeremy Irons rocks my boat so I thought it was good. He was a bit irritating though. I couldn’t quite catch on to his motives if he had any to begin with. To me it was all a blur. I kept thinking what’s so good about Helen Mirren and I realised it’s because I really started to see her as the Queen of England… it’s quite an emotional ride.
I’m not sure what else I watched last night. After Elizabeth I, nothing quite matched up. I can see why it is critically acclaimed though.
I found the language in Elizabeth I hard to stomach at first. I wondered whether the British talked like that in those times… whether Shakespeare decided to write the way he did or really, that was how the English spoke.
From that one episode, I gathered that the civilians were not used to the idea of the Church of England yet. It was her father, King Henry VIII who had broken away from the Catholic Church so I guess the people weren’t adjusted to this new religion. I don’t blame them. One generation is not enough for such things.
It was a battle between Catholicism and Protestantism. Like everything else in this world, we go to war because of religion. Which religion is right, which faith brings us to heaven.
It was rather pitiful and sad that Mary, Queen of Scots was not allowed her last rights (a Catholci priest and prayer). It almost made it honorable the way she died.
Royalty of yesteryear had so much responsibility on their shoulder. The counsel had a lot of influence and some times, way too much.
It is a good drama. Well, I hope to catch all of it. Too bad Jeremy Irons died. I think he’s a fine actor. I don’t say that of many actors.
I was watching the trailer for Martin Scorsese’s latest film and Leonardo DiCaprio reminds me of Nick Carter and Justin Timberlake. To me, they are in the same category. They don’t appeal to me at all. The question I can see churning in your heads is, “Is she a girl?!” Yeah sure, they like to stare into the camera as if to hypnotise us but honestly, it freaks me out. It is not a turn-on. I’m sorry.
They need to have presence. Jeremy Irons has presence.
Quite a let down tonight. Maybe my expectations of You, Me and Dupree were a bit high. Dupree was just annoying. In fact, Carl’s friends were all losers. Especially that guy who came to get Carl’s porn stash. Are these people even friends with each other? It made men look like losers and it’s just… a weird movie.

When u say Jeremy Irons died, are you referring to his character in the miniseries? Cos as far as I know, the real Mr Irons is still alive and kicking.

Yeah, in Elizabeth I. He was the Earl of Leicester.
The poor Queen had no one else to turn to and she called him back to her courts even though he had cheated on her…
