Not a Fan of Whitney But…
The rivalry between both fan bases have gone forever and we never appreciated the jibes that Whitney Houston fans made at Mariah Carey.
These two divas have had their fair share of bad press. Whitney with the drug riddled past and questionable husband. Mariah had one bad movie that caused her downward spiral a few years back… However, in a few short years, Mariah, humbled and renewed in her faith in God, bounced back to her true form in 2005 with The Emancipation of Mimi. Mariah was never a quitter and I have so much to learn from her. She persevered and that is a testament of who she really is.
Whitney Houston kept a low profile over the last few years. It didn’t really help that every time she was in the press, there were drugs involved. Her manager, Clive Davis, tried to revive her singing career but it just never worked… the press were never supportive. However, in the last two weeks, with the latest news of her divorce, there seems to be a breakthrough.
I don’t think the media is heartless. They may seem like it. Whitney always had so much potential and promise and even though she too had faith in God, some times it depends on will power and all of us fail at some point. We want to change but it’s so hard… however when we have the will to make changes, then people will see that you’re not a quitter and will support you. Maybe everybody’s glad to see that Whitney’s letting go of the things that have caused her to stumble and they are happy for her… I believe the media is supporting Whitney in her comeback. Mariah’s success last year has set the benchmark and has also shown that anyone is allowed a 2nd chance.
Whitney also has the support of her manager, Clive, who has never let her wander too far. He has always believed in her… maybe because he was there with her from the beginning.
These were taken at the 17th Carousel of Hope Gala in Beverly Hills on 28th October 2006. She looks pretty stunning and I’m not one to hand out compliments to Whitney usually.

Katharine McPhee was also present at the charity event. She sung “I have Nothing”, a song she sung on American Idol 5 with the infamous yellow dress. It is a song written by David Foster and not coincidentally originally sung by Whitney Houston. Quoting USA Today,
“Houston’s surprise appearance led American Idol’s Katharine McPhee to abandon plans to sing her signature Over the Rainbow in place of Houston’s I Have Nothing. “It’s her first big appearance since the breakup,” explained McPhee on the pink arrivals carpet. “I would love to sing with her, but unfortunately all eyes are on me.”
Houston nodded her head during McPhee’s performance and led a standing ovation.”
In my opinion, that’s a grand honour for Katharine McPhee to sing this song in the presence of Whitney Houston, David Foster and Clive Davis. Not forgetting an American Idol judge, Randy Jackson. It’s very encouraging and positive. (I really like the picture of the trio above…)
The dress is a Dina Bar-El number. I would stick a picture worn by a model on the runway but nah… Katharine McPhee looks better in it. It is a very revealing dress and in my opinion, it’s not as pretty as the gowns she’s worn before.
Doesn’e she look happy with her beau, Nick? McCokas! He’s sweet. In the picture with Katharine McPhee and David Foster, he’s holding her purse for her.. 
I think Katharine McPhee looked different. Her hair was big and she looked classic … almost 50’s-esque… very glamorous and classy… it’s amazing how she can morph from simple to sophisticated so quickly. There are lots of photos so check out the usual image sites for more!
It just struck me how smart Katharine McPhee is. She could have just been another performer at the charity gala… just like Barry Manilow or Usher but she chose to switch her song (Somewhere Over the Rainbow) to a Whitney Houston (I Have Nothing) song to put her in the media spotlight too… very smart…
But I have to say her performance of I Have Nothing was one of my favourites on American Idol 5. I thought she looked hot and stunning and she sang it very well… it was that week that introduced her to Andrea Bocelli and David Foster… so really, that song must be special to Katharine McPhee … TOP JOB KATHARINE!

There seems to be a bug within Windows that does not allow one to open many windows.
As an avid Internet surfer, I do not open one window at a time. I like opening many webpages at once and after collecting a bucketful, I then start to close the webpages one by one. This could be because a webpage I am viewing has links to other related content or it may be thumbnails of pictures that open into a new window. Either way, one of my favourite options is Right Click > Open in a new window/tab.
When I open many windows (I have tried 50 at a time but most of the time it starts going wonky at around 15 -20 or so), it tends to jam up my computer. I can’t right click, can’t open Task Manager, webpages are just white, nothing loads, no status bar, can’t click anywhere, etc etc. I have to force IE to end and then some times do a restart to get my computer stable again.
Apparently this is a resource problem. Obviously.
It is not an isolated Internet Explorer 6/7 case but has happened with Mozilla Firefox too. I thought the ever-amazing, never-failing, most critically acclaimed Mozilla Firefox might not hang on me but alas, that is not to be. Also it is not a Windows XP problem as it has also happened on my Windows Vista Basic many times. I think I’m just a cursed user.
I was so fed-up with all this shutting down of windows that I went online to find help (naturally). Apparently, it ain’t just me with this problem thank goodness and with a simple search with phrases like, “too many windows open” will bring up relevant results.
It is quite simple to solve and involves registry editing.. don’t be scared… with great guidance, it is easy to accomplish. I shall put it out here for those of you who might face this problem and want it fixed. So far, after the fix, my computer seems pretty stable but a tad slow. Could just be my crappy computer though.
The techies call this a desktop heap problem.
So to fix it:-
Go to Start
Click Run ( or type into Search if in Vista)
Type regedit
Click on the + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click on the +sign next to SYSTEM
Click on the + sign next to CurrentControlSet
Click on the + sign next to Control
Click on the + sign next to Session Manager
Click on the + sign next to Subsystems
Click on Windows in the Subsystems folder
Look for “…rectory=\Windows SharedSection=1024,3072,512 …” under Value Data.
The next step is changing the middle value (3072) to a greater number thereby increasing your desktop heap.
By increasing this value, you will be limiting the number of users to this computer. This may not be suitable for computers that have multiple users and require you to Login, for example.
Therefore if you want to increase the number to 4mb, you will add 1024 to 3072. If you want to increase this to 5mb, you will add 1024+1024+3072, etc etc. I changed my value to 8192. It may be a bit too much but time will tell if this will cause my computer to become unstable. It was already unstable to begin with so whatever.
I was quite overjoyed when I found a fix for this problem. Aaah, no more having to close all the windows that I had accumulated over the last few webpages. Now, I hope to view in peace.

Windows Desktop Heap Tweak Guide
A lot of people can’t seem to view the videos on my site. I can though so I’m pretty sure there’s nothing wrong with how I embed the videos.
If you can see that I have embedded videos on my site then that’s a start. Second, if you click on “Play now” or the Play button to start the video and it doesn’t play then why don’t you try the following steps below?
First of all, have you installed Adobe Flash Player plugin? I suggest re-installing the Flash Player plugin if you already have it just to make sure you’ve got the latest software.
Also, open up your Internet Explorer Browser and then click on Tools > Options > Advanced and make sure that “Play animations in web pages“, “Play sound in web pages” and “Play videos in web pages” are ticked.
Does this help? Can you view the embedded videos on my website now?
I’m not so sure about Firefox since I have not installed the Flash plugin to view the videos on my website.
One more thing, some times your internet connection may be too slow. It may take up to 10 minutes to load the first few seconds of the video file so be patient!
Isn’t Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP good looking? It’s hard to compare to the old one since I didn’t take a screenshot of it beforehand … I have to say it’s a welcome change… it seems to be smoother too but then again, I am running this on my freshly reformatted laptop.
It’s a bit hard to get used to since it doesn’t have have the File, Edit…. bits at the top of the program. They now fall under the various headings, “Now Playing, “Rip Music”, etc…
Oh well, it’s nice having original Windows XP…
Update: There is always a certain skittish-ness one feels when they make a change. I woke up this morning to discover that I haven’t attracted as many viewers to my site compared to a day ago. I am wondering whether this theme may be the reason. I hope it isn’t. We’ll give it a week. I made some alterations here and there so hopefully I’ll see a more accurate reading in the coming days.

Today, I renewed this site for another year.
I have been wanting to change my site for some time so I think this is the best moment. I thought maybe New Years but I think renewing my webhost calls for a celebration.
After all, it’s a brand new beginning. I really liked my old theme and if this theme doesn’t go down well then it’ll be back to the old one. But for now, let’s take chance.
How do you like the orange? I quite like it. It’s refreshing.
As I re-arrange my archives, please bear with me.
There’ll be new additions as I slog through and improve this site.
