The top selling album of 2005 was none other than Mariah Carey. Hip hip hooray! We all know this though. But who takes over this year?
Miss Carrie Underwood!
I’m really happy it’s Carrie Underwood. She’s wholesome, pretty and has an awesome voice to boot. Most importantly, she started off the year with, “jesus take the wheel”. You can call me an over-zealous, mad Christian freak but when I first heard she was releasing that song, I was skeptical and completely amazed at her courage to release that as her first single ever. This song will be the benchmark for her life… she is telling the world that Jesus will take the wheel in her life. If that’s not faith, then I have no idea… that’s telling the world where her allegiance lies.
To see her gain so much success and recognition over the past year makes me really happy to be a fan of hers. Although not a crazy, up the wall kind of fan, I respect her greatly and she didn’t need to be outrageous or scandalous to acheive the success she’s had.
I have always found her performances amusing, especially when she ends them since she’s always so still and expressionless. I love it when she gives a short nod after every performance and has a small smile…I am stunned by her grace, that’s all.
It has definitely been Carrie’s year. She won the coveted Country Music Association award, she won multiple awards at the Billboard Awards and she won at the AMAs. Let’s not forget she is also in the running for a Grammy…
I have to say she deserves it no matter what people say. Her range as an artiste has been proven this year. Sure, she’s singing country music but it shows her crossover appeal that has garnered her so many awards. Her ability to sell so many albums and singles and gain airplay with her music is just stellar. And the best part of it all, she’s still so grateful and thankful about it all.
The power of television.
American Idol, although just a reality tv show, proves that people who are on it don’t just become fly by night, 15 minute attention grabbing television stars but can have a great post-Idol career. In fact, they have talent and it’s their lucky break. *applauds* Go Carrie!
I’m so happy it’s Carrie Underwood and not some yucky rapper or slutty singer…
