What I’ve Been Up To

My life has been pretty crazy over the last few weeks… a rollercoaster of emotions and really, things have been moving so quickly that writing on this blog is a luxury.

I thought I should make this personal rather than one of my “out there” posts that I’ve been making just because I feel it is the eve of Chinese New Year and I haven’t really been posting anything personal of late.

I have been able to catch up with all 6 episodes of The L Word. Hurrah for that… unfortunately, I have no time to review each episode and it’s not only that but my Internet has been just plain lousy (this is a whole other rant)…

Season 4 so far has been pretty decent. They’ve laid aside the sex scenes for now, as in, not every episode has a sex scene which is refreshing. Plus the sex that has happened on the show has been pretty mild and forgettable. I watch for the storylines, their hook-ups and their break-ups and their emotions and so far, I’ve not been disappointed. Some of the new characters spook me out but I’m assuming that’s part of the plan … most people would call that good casting. The characters have evolved too… some of them have a sense of humour now, I guess I’ve always liked the L Word for the drama and what they try to represent… I do forget the fact that it is a lesbian drama but strangely, the L Word always reminds us of that fact. So far, I’ve gone through half the season and thinking about it now, although nothing major has happened, nothing ground breaking or crazy… I don’t think this season is meant to shock… it’s just meant for us to enjoy and take things slow. Some of the old characters have been put on the backburner which I’m quite happy about… for some it’s because they’ve turned heterosexual and therefore have kind of fallen out with the other girls, it’s one of those “she’s turned against us” things. I admire the struggles they all go through and that’s what makes this show amazing. If only I could be more descriptive.

Besides that, I haven’t had time to complete the last few episodes of The OC. It’s an either or situation so I had to pick one. I should be able to catch up with the OC soon. It is ending this February and I am devastated. Well, I think I was more devastated a couple of weeks ago, now this finale pales in comparison with what’s happening in my life.

I personally like distractions… that’s why the L Word is so good. It keeps me distracted from everything that’s happening in my life.

Earlier in the week, I watched Norbit. It’s really not the type of movie I would catch normally, far from it… all I have to say about the movie is that at some parts, I had to force myself to laugh. The only redeeming factors of the movie were Thandie Newton who actually looked quite fresh, perky and pretty and … the dog who got paralysed and had wheels attached to him. Everything else about it reeked of over-used storylines and discriminatory jokes.

The company for my Norbit night was also a bit confusing in my opinion. Who knew what to make of it…? I sure as hell had no clue. It’s one of those things you come back pondering for days… “What exactly happened?” Maybe I over-analyse…. I think I’m just a sucker.

Anyway, that’s it… Happy Chinese New Year! It’s my year by the way…. :P
