Why do we have to pay an extra RM0.50 to reload our Touch’nGo Card?!

I just don’t understand why we have to pay to reload our card. It makes no sense and 50 sen at that! It’s like daylight robbery. Not only do we have to buy the Touch’nGo card at RM10 but there’s service charges every time we reload?? Only in Malaysia.

It’s meant to be a convenience but there’s a price to pay for convenience?? Since when? In other countries, they beg you to use their services, they throw in extra goodies but in Malaysia, they make you pay for it…

I’m not sure why there hasn’t been a hoo-hah and outcry about this yet. I’ve been wanting to rant on this for the longest time and when I went to reload my card today, I was riled up again. It just makes no sense. Unless someone out there wants to explain it to me.

Also, why do we get charged extra if we use Touch’nGo in carparks?? And it’s not like a small sum like 5 sen but it’s like 20 sen at least… and it just doesn’t make sense why we’d have to pay extra. You’d think these things only happen with credit cards…

Have you read their Terms and Conditions?! Only in Malaysia do T&Cs feel threatening… we’re at the losing end.

It’s like, they can’t manage their funds properly and are therefore, making us pay for it? Sounds a lot like the toll concessions, doesn’t it?

Plus, the SmartTag machine costs RM100 and this is a promotional price! HELLO?! I’m seriously in shock. And again, we can only buy it at certain places…

I just don’t get the RM0.50. I’m not counting my pennies, ok maybe I am but seriously, it just doesn’t make sense!

I *think* the 0.50 charge is only applicable if you top-up at petrol stations. There’s no such charge if you were to top up at the LRT station or toll-plazas.

For the London Underground, you get a discount if you were to use the Oyster Card (similar to TnG) rather than buy tickets. Sadly, no such benefits for using TnG.

Heck, even our supermarkets are odd. Ever noticed that they charge MORE when you buy in bulk? Where’s the incentive to buy in bulk?
example, Item A = RM 0.50, Item A in 6 pack = RM 3.50. Might as well buy individually 6 of item A.

Yeah, but those LRT and toll plazas aren’t exactly convenient for us commuters…i.e those with cars, I mean.

Yeah… like the Oyster Card - There you go!! Benefits! No, you gotta pay extra with the Touch n Go … in fact, today I went to a mall and although they had the touch n go machine, it was, “rosak”….

Really, I never noticed that with the supermarkets… that’s insane… you would think it’s cheaper - although i do not vaguely recall something like that… how it’s cheaper to buy it individually…
