Carey unveiled her scent to beauty editors at a lavish cocktail party in Soho Monday night, which she hosted with Elizabeth Arden, her fragrance licensee.

The M by Mariah Carey scent, which the singer created with perfumer Carlos Benaim of International Flavors & Fragrances, is a floriental. It has top notes of marshmallow and sea breeze accord, a heart of Living Tahitian Tiare and gardenia and a drydown of sheer amber, patchouli and Moroccan incense.

The bottle, created by Arden’s Jean Antretter, is a lavender glass orb with a subtle wave design and a silver rope-patterned neck. The cap is topped by Carey’s signature butterfly. The outer carton features fluttering butterflies, with a front panel that opens to reveal the fragrance.
The fragrance sounds absolutely exotic! When I think of fragrances, I imagine flowers… not marshmallow or Moroccan incense!
The bottle looks simply divine too! I love the butterfly cap - signature Mariah.
Oh, I can’t wait, I can’t wait!

I also love this picture above. I like the lighting, the rich skin tones, the fact that Mariah is the centre of attention and that she’s flanked by two men. It’s a very balanced photograph.
This was taken at the Fresh Air Fund even held on June 7, 2007.

Might I add that the photo above is NOT a studio shot. It sure looks like one!
