Mariah Carey’s New Single “Touch My Body” & New Album “E=MC2″

I woke up at 5:30am this morning to listen to the premiere of Touch My Body and I have to say it’s not crappy and stupid like Rihanna’s Umbrella. The hook is memorable but not irritating. It’s not a shocking sounding single like “It’s Like That“.

Touch My Body is a tight, melodic track that has a VERY catchy chorus. In my opinion, I had no idea how she was going to sing the phrase “Touch my Body” but I am not only surprised but superly impressed that Mariah can come up with such a well produced track. Obviously the pressure from The Emancipation of Mimi was there and with the long anticipated wait for this follow-up single that literally drove fans up the wall, this bouncy, r&b number will definitely be a chart topper for the right reasons.

It’s more mature and has little bits that sound a bit like Breakdown. I can’t think of any song on the radio that sounds like this right now. It’s got a great backing track that’s very well thought out and not just a bunch of beats like most songs today. At least it ain’t got the Timbaland sound like every other radio song these days. YEAY!

This song has so many different aspects to it. The hook, the instruments, the lyrics, the background melody, the beats, Mariah’s voice and background vocals… I love it when Mariah does the background vocals herself. She’s the best! It’s got a very full sound, like every spectrum that can be covered, has been. It doesn’t leave any hollow or flat feeling. To me, it’s probably not as simple as ”We Belong Together“… it’s definitely had a lot of thought and production done on it.

Mariah’s voice is very good on it too. She sounds like herself and she actually uses her full voice and no loud climatic scream at the end and it’s distinctive Mariah. Her voice has an emotional touch to it.

It’s not loud and noisy but its got a very smooth feeling for a song. It’s going to be a hit. The melody is really sexy. Makes you wanna groove.

The lyrics are also very contemporary and references to current pop culture trends are evident. It’s sexy and sensual too. My name’s mentioned!! Actually, some of the lyrics make me blush. HAHAHAHA.  

I love the way Mariah sings. Her pronounciation and enunciation is incomparable. One of the reasons that I love her so.

Definitely Touch My Body has explosive potential. I won’t be surprised if the single is on heavy rotation and is one of the high ranking singles for 2008. Thank you Mariah!

It makes me excited for E=MC², her album. I am most surprised that Mariah’s team have been able to keep the album title under wraps for so long and only dropped it when the single hit airwaves. Wow. This is truly something for all of us to talk about till the album drops April 15, 2008. The album title in my opinion has so much attitude and from the initial response from the fans E= Emancipation/Energy and MC²= Mariah’s second coming and follow up. It’s not sappy like Mariah’s previous album titles aka “Rainbow”, “Butterfly”… somehow reminiscient of “The Emancipation of Mimi”, this title E=MC² has so much oomph, maturity and girl power. Wow… definitely you won’t take Mariah lightly.

The E=MC² era has officially started. YEAY!

So I woke up early this morning expecting to be faced with the prospect of bad quality radio quality rips but Mariah’s team thought of everything.
