Natalie has to be one of my favourite characters on Youtube. Ok, so I don’t sit and watch much of the original content that goes on on Youtube (erm.. a confession? :P) I like HappySlip and communitychannel reminds me of Australia and not only that, she is actually funny. She has a dry humour which is quite refreshing. Her accent’s hot and yes, I normally am not fond of the Australian accent much.

Remember, I have a thing with people who speak well. I can literally fall in love with them if they have great tone and pronounce words well.

Hence Mariah who has impeccable pronounciation and enunciation when she sings. And just so you know, the reason I fell in love with the Spice Girls was because they sang, “All you need is pos-it-iv-ity” in Spice Up Your Life… That was what caught my attention…

So this video has to be the best stuff from her so far. It’s wack and the lyrics are awesome. I’ve always wished I could improvise song lyrics. Maybe I’ll attempt to ONE day.

Now this has to be the coolest contest ever. I’ve always thought Mariah had a slew of very talented fans. Over and over again, I’d hear great remixes that they’ve created (for example, “MichaelAngelo Meets Morales Mix” Shake it Off Remix) I am glad her management team recognises the potential and not only that but is giving the opportunity to the fans to come up with some great remix! I think this is a stupendous contest!

I’ve always thought Mariah should hold a contest for her fans to remix her song and I think “I’ll be Lovin’ U Long Time” is a great track for that. It’s bubbly, happy, summer … and really fun to listen to.

And only Mariah Carey can be involved in such a project because Mariah Carey revels in remix-ing her own songs too! She does great remixes and not only that she resings the vocals and creates gems. It’s almost like brand new songs that come out because the vocals are so different .. her David Morales mixes have to be credited here… really great stuff.

I’m glad it’s really about the music again. Not the hoo-hah over her wedding or marriage. Also, I highlighted Mariah’s co-executive producer’s name for a reason. He was rumoured to be dating Mariah Carey until this marriage with Nick Cannon suddenly came up. In fact, he was supposed to be heartbroken and shattered “after the marriage”. So he can still work for her after all the drama? Can you work with your ex after all of this? What gives eh? *SUSPICIOUS*

I still don’t believe in Mariah Carey’s sham of an over-commercialised and publicity seeking marriage.

Anyway, nice to see Mark Sudack is still working for her and not only that he’s invested in steering clear of the drama that was Mariah and Nick’s marriage and making it all about the music again. Hurrah!

After the dismal lack of promotion for “Bye Bye” and I will state again that I am pissed at Mariah for thinking that selling a wedding and marriage would spark interest in Bye Bye even though the song had nothing to do with a love story and thinking that selling herself rather than the music would boost “LOVE STORY” as a potential “We Belong Together” follow-up. A plain marketing blunder.

Her team must have thought by riding high on her Touch My Body single she could throw a wedding and then release Love Story which they must have thought would have been a great summer single or whatever. It reeked of cheese…Well, no one liked the idea, fans included.

But I suppose that’s why they had to let things simmer down … change the single and direction. This explains the lack of promotion and even worse Nick Cannon dedicating songs to his haters which is rather juvenile. C’mon, grow up.

A lot of the time, people make personal attacks towards Nick Cannon but for me, if you notice, I am most annoyed at the wedding and the marriage. It was done in bad taste. And now the results after the wedding? People are waiting for the divorce or annulment papers to fly. That is if the marriage or wedding even happened in the first place.

So her 3rd single is I’ll Be Lovin’ You Long Time - a grammatically wrong but very catchy song from her album, E=MC2. HAHA!

The video was directed by Chris Applebaum and is miles better than her last video Bye Bye. She destroyed the essence of that song in my opinion. I still question… “Why Mariah? Why did you butcher such a great and meaningful song?!”

Anyway, let’s move on to happier things. It’s summer and Mariah’s new video is sure to thrill because first of all, she looks absolutely stunning. I’m not kidding. Watch it and be bowled over by the gorgeousness that is Mariah Carey. I love the golden, shimmery water. It’s like she’s swimming in gold! It’s beautiful and not only that, Mariah’s swimming with dolphins!

This video doesn’t stink because she’s not trying hard to be sexy. She just is.

I love the treatment of the video too - the gold, the colours, the sunsets and scenery shots. Beautiful. Mariah Carey has a beautiful golden tan too.

T.I, I can’t believe I’m actually saying this ‘cos I don’t normally pay compliments to men, is quite good looking.

I kind of wish Mariah Carey would have just done a video for the album version but maybe her record label felt it lacking in some way.

And yes, Mariah had to add a nauseous and cheesy touch by proving that her “Mrs. Cannon” tattoo is real. *yawn yawn*

When I first heard a snippet of this song, I was shocked. It expressed the thoughts that I was afraid to put into words or somehow could not put into words. And Mariah Carey did it. I think because she lost her dad to cancer and the song really has those feelings that I feel but somehow cannot put into words. Of all the people in the world to write a song that I can connect to on such a level… it had to be Mariah Carey. I’ve highlighted the parts that really stand out for me. More after the lyrics…

I don’t really care for Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey right now. To me, the “marriage” is nothing but a publicity stunt because so many things are wrong with it - Mariah’s acting out of character for one is probably the biggest disappointment of all and I think it destroys the essence of this song … that I expected Mariah to take with it since it’s a serious and melancholic song. It had so much potential till she destroyed it with the marriage as it has overshadowed the message of the song. SIgh… I hope a lot of people out there get to hear the song.

I’m so full of myself. But I get to be … ‘cos it’s only ONE day out of the year that is MY day…

My birthday last year was a tough one. Papa was admitted to the hospital on 3 May 2007 and my birthday was on a Saturday and I stayed in the hospital for most of the day watching Papa sleep. I was really sad last birthday actually. Papa’s friend came to do qi gong and I think I had lunch in the hospital. Then I got into a mini accident in front of the hospital and we ate dinner at the Italian restaurant opposite. I felt quite forgotten in the scheme of things but almost near the end of the day Papa woke up briefly and wished me “Happy Birthday”… but he was just so ill then. We just weren’t up to it… I did wear my birthday clothes that Che Che bought for me. It wasn’t very festive. Let’s just leave it at that.

Yesterday, some relatives threw a birthday dinner for me and it was nice…

But it’s a quiet birthday this year… nothing too festive except Mariah singing Happy Birthday ! YEAY!

Now, I didn’t know that this book had someone dying of leukaemia. All I knew from reading the back cover was that this girl’s best friend was dying. I remember reading the book and bawling when the best friend dies. It was just so sad I couldn’t help myself. I burst into tears, sobbing and pining. All this in the middle of the night.

It came at a time just before the memorial service and it was good I had a moment to reconnect with all those emotions.

Today marks the 6th month that my dad is no longer with us. 6 months. Time has stood still and flown by.

Yesterday, I previewed a snippet of Mariah Carey’s new song, “Bye Bye” from E=MC2. When it started, I was a bit skeptical but when it came to the bridge/ending, I was suddenly moved to tears. Literally. It was a rush of emotions. The song is “for those who have lost a loved one.” When I first heard of this track a few months back, I thought Mariah would write a very personal track about losing her father but I didn’t imagine it would be as anthemic or as universal as this. What made this snippet so amazing was the emotion that just flowed through her voice. I hadn’t seen the video preview yet at the time, just heard the sound snippet and I choked. When I went back to listen to it later, I still felt that choking feeling and not only that, it is the harmonies and the melody that really moves me. I cannot wait to hear the whole track in its entirety.

I was also given the privilege to preview, “Feast of Love” yesterday and somehow, when I do preview movies, the themes always involve death, loss, grief and love. This was no exception.

The movies I previewed previously were “The Pursuit of Happyness“, “Charlotte’s Web” and “Catch and Release“.

So I was feeling a bit melancholic yesterday.

I some times worry that there might come a time where I will forget Papa and the memories I have of him will fade. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you, Papa. Missing you. Thank you.

Most people don’t know that post-meltdown, Mariah was paid USD$49,000,000 by Virgin to be let go/dropped. That means that however the press put it, Mariah had the upper hand in that contract. I remember noting this when the news broke that Mariah was bought out of her contract for USD$49 million and I thought, “why are they saying she lost out? She got freakin’ USD$50million!”

What fantastic promotion! Although I’m not particularly keen on American Idol appearances ‘cos I think it’s for the has-beens, the international exposure of course, is good and can I just say that the AI contestants will be so privileged to have the Queen of Music give them a few tips. Truly lucky. Anyway, anything with Mariah is worth it. YES!

By the way, the top 12 finalists on American Idol 7 have been chosen. Time to fit AI into my schedule now.

Apparently, Mariah Carey brought her own lighting to her BET 106 & Park appearance on February 28, 2008. She was there to promote her video “Touch My Body“.  

It’s great though. I love lighting and she positively glows! I’ve realised that lighting can make you look 300 times better if done right. Go Mariah!
